“I’m more concerned with becoming a work of art than in creating one.” © Arnold R. Butler.2011(www.aB2ether.com) I guess in essence I agree to this statement. I love creating art and coming up with new ideas but I don’t think I can confine myself to any one medium. I have been going pretty hard at video for the last 2 years and I’m honing in on different ways to tell stories. I am now getting to the point where I feel comfortable selling my services and I’m happy that people respect my work enough to hire me. At the same time, I am not willing to pimp my talents out to projects that I don’t believe in and I have very little desire towards working in “corporate” advertising/hollywood movie making. (this statement can be recanted at anytime, if offered a phat check to work on the next Batman or Bourne movie) Although I put a lot of effort and passion into my work, my worth is not in my works alone but an amalgamation of a my life story put together by different pieces of content. The curse of someone with many talents is confusion of concentration. What is one to do, focus on one and neglect the others, or hopscotch through different mediums and never develop fully in one avenue. Right now my job is in social media, prior to studying the craft of effective story telling through social media, I was very much a consumer and and angst one at that. I realized that this is not only a new wave of technology but this is in fact a redeemer of the multifaceted super-nerd. Five years ago someone like Donald Glover would be just another computer nerd that acts on Community, but with a cult following social media this man has had millions of fans rally for him to be the next Spiderman, had sold out comedy show and concerts across the globe. (I just went to the one at the Tabernacle in Atlanta. Dopeness! S/o @steve_G_lover) This dude is extremely talented but a self-proclaimed nerd that has told his true life story in creative avenues that were never before revered in such a manner. So thank you Technology! At the end of the day I want people to look at my work, whether it be photography, design, videography, football highlights, cooking, or whatever tickles my fancy in the next 50 years and understand me and how I have developed. (into the most interesting man on earth. lol) - NerdyJoq - OT
